BENEFITING: New Haven Ecology Project
ORGANIZER: Common Ground
EVENT DATE: Dec 01, 2015
In his book, "One Square Inch of Silence," the acoustic ecologist Gordon Hempton writes about environmental music. Specifically he says that, "A whole-valley listening experience is the result of place, not an individual performer. I can feel the importance of the living community, how one thing is not more important that the other. It's everything that matters. When listening to this music of place...I am inspired to be a better neighbor, a better parent, a better child because I feel part of something much bigger: a collective place that makes music and sings to me."
Common Ground is this place, this gift in the New Haven community; it inspires us to be better. It is more than one thing; and, in all that it is, it is above all else an opportunity to be part of something bigger and better than oursleves. Common Ground provides a space for students and community members to connect with nature and redefine their urban experience; it is a place for growing, for nurturing, for giving and for learning. Common Ground is a way of being that can change the way we see our roles in our local and global communities. Please, won't you join us? Your donation will make a difference.
