The medical camp is aimed at engaging qualified medical practitioners and health students in offering free medical services to a targeted community group of about 1500 to 2000 people. The services shall include; • Screening for various diseases. • Providing medical assistance to the less fortunate in the society • Educating the public on various medical and social issues affecting their community e.g. HIV/AIDS • Creating awareness of various non-communicable diseases – cancer, diabetes, and hypertension The Medical camp is organised by a group of youths from Universities and colleges under the umbrella called 'WESTERN YOUTH INITIATIVE' targeting communities within the Western part of Kenya. About WESTERN YOUTH INITIATIVE The Western Youth Initiative (WE.Y.I), is a youths' empowerment association formed by the university youth hailing and allied to the Bungoma, Kakamega, Busia, Vihiga and Trans-Nzoia counties of the former larger western province of Kenya. The group is administered by the university going youth student officials, representatives of the counties, constituencies and wards in the regions they hail in. Objectives of the initiative a) To organize motivational talks and career guidance in primary and secondary schools b) To sensitize youths on the need and importance of environmental conservation. c) To organize training programs in areas such as youth leadership trainings, civic education and entrepreneurship d) To Partner with the government institutions, other like-minded organizations in offering extension trainings in agriculture, healthy awareness campaigns and agri-business. e) Drugs and Drug abuse awareness campaign in conjunction with agencies like NACADA and campaign against indecent sexual behaviour to minimize HIV/AIDS spread. f) To develop highly informed persons with utmost integrity and virtue through organized seminars, workshops and debates. g) To be a highly effective organization that is lean, fast-moving and swift in implementing new ideas.
