Community Treatment Solutions (CTS), which supports children and youth affected by abuse and neglect, has been approved by Guinness World Records to try and build the biggest rubber band ball in the world! The RUBBER BAND BUS (Bands that Unite uS) tour is a traveling program, in which our rubber band ball makes stops at events, public and private sites and locations where people have the opportunity to add rubber bands, take photos and be a part of this worthy and fun endeavor. The rubber band ball record is 9,032 pounds.
This program is intended to unite all of us in support of youth who have been abused, neglected and abandoned. Together, we will raise awareness about the long-term impact of trauma resulting from this abuse and send a message to these youth that they are important and we will support them.
Donations are being taken through this project in order to continue providing music and arts therapy classes (in basic song composition, acting and dance) as well as other needed allied therapy programs which will allow our youth (most of whom have PTSD) to positively express themselves.
Here are a few examples of what your gift could provide:
- $75 provides 1 weekly class in songwriting/voice, dance or acting for 10 youth
- $100 provides sheet music and worksheets for an entire year
- $150 provides 2 weekly hour-long classes
- $225 provides 3 weekly hour-long classes
The overall goal amount of $3,775 would provide half (5 weeks) of a 10-week cycle of classes for our youth.
Requests are also being taken for businesses, groups and individuals that are interested in hosting the RUBBER BAND BUS and helping us build the ball or becoming a sponsor of the campaign. We will use a small portion of funds raised to purchase more and bigger rubber bands!
The progress and location of the rubber band ball can be tracked by following "rubberbandbus" on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
