Community Birthing Center Project

The Charlottesville Women’s Health and Educational Resource Collective is dedicated to promoting health and wellness for families based on the Midwifery Model of Care. Our goal is to establish and maintain a well-equipped, integrated birth center in Charlottesville, Virginia by early 2016. The center will be a pioneer in midwife-physician collaborative practices within the Charlottesville area. Providing holistic maternity care services including, prenatal, birth and postpartum care; breastfeeding assistance, and lifelong health care and education.
The Community Birth Center Project will be additionally be an educational resource for the community, offering interdisciplinary education and clinical opportunities for an assortment of health care professionals. Quality education in out of hospital birth will be provided to create a foundation for developing a quality workforce both now and in the future for the birth center and for surrounding communities.
A protion of all proceeds will be donated to support transformative research for the Midwifery model of care through the Midwifery Alliance of North America.
