Since July 2012, we've been North Port Florida's one and only Community Radio Station, giving voice to North Port and the surrounding area. We've used the power of internet broadcasting to bring you interviews with our local politicians, business leaders and artists. KDWRadio also provides our community with free Public Service Announcements to keep us informed of important events and news and we have developed an area wide emergency broadcast service in conjunction with the City of North Port emergency operations center.
We digital stream broadcast 24/7 through www.kdwradio.com on broadband and we have now been licensed for WKDW 97.5 FM . The archive library of all programs is continuously available for digital streaming through www.kdwradio.com.
All of our programming is created in our community and by our community. That's what makes us unique and different from both commercial radio and public radio. It's simply people making radio for the people. Community radio is about building and supporting the well-being and positive growth of our area. It's about communicating ideas, concerns, differences of opinion, health and financial issues, and the art and music of the community.
KDWRadio.com is non-competitive. We work in conjunction with our area broadcast stations, newspapers and magazines to foster communication and cooperation. KDWRadio does not have a bias for any political persuasion or religious philosophy. Our programming and our management is committed to free speech, presented in a respectful manner, no matter where that speech originates. All responsible voices are welcome to participate in creating and presenting programming.
KDWRadio community based programming includes:
Good Evening North Port with Marina Orlova
A veteran of both Russian and US television, Marina provides news, commentary, interviews and music in the Russian language every Monday night starting at 9:00 PM. She also hosts a children's story every Saturday at 8 PM. The Russian speaking community encompasses nearly 12% of the population of North Port and South Sarasota County and thanks to your generous support that community now has a regular source of information through KDWRadio. Marina’s show is heard weekly by listeners as far away as New Zealand, Germany and Russia.
Business in North Port with Gale West
Gale comes to us from Clear Channel and she showcases the business community in the North Port area. Her style is fun, informative and conversational and even the shyest of guests comes out and enjoys the interview process. Gale also hosts Community Spotlight focused on our area non-profits and service groups, giving them a no cost, high profile voice and recognition for their work.
The Manic Organic
Hosted by Cheri Lee, the Manic Organic focuses on sustainable homesteading and nutritional advocacy by connecting people with local resources for sustainable and organic food production, food preservation, locally sourced goods and whole food nutritional guidance.
Cheri Lee is an organic gardening and food production consultant and nutritional advocate. She has volunteered extensively in Sarasota County, with a heavy focus on local North Port communities, to create educational resources for children and adults pertaining to environmentally friendly food production and nutritional wellness.
Hosted by Kim Galloway, "Facets" will explore a wide range of contemporary musical genres–pop to blues, progressive rock to old school soul, folk, jazz and, of course, straight-ahead rock and roll. The show will include new releases, classics and covers. Facets will also seek to promote local artists playing in and around the North Port community. If the host has done her job, the listeners will find themselves asking “What was that song?”
The Pink Lynx
The ladies of the Pink Lynx examine topics ranging from education to nutrition to health to women's issues in a conversational yet focused style. Well researched and presented with detail and clarity, these issues support community, and the well-being of of all of their listeners. The Pink Lynx is the first of several KDWRadio produced shows with national syndication on iTunes
Moments to Remember
Leo says, I enjoy golfing, walking, my wife and MUSIC, MUSIC, MUSIC!!! Listen to Leo's Music to Remember show featuring music from the years 1940 through 1955 including Big Band.
Bud Buckley and Jax Resto host the rollicking and entertaining show about music, art and everything in between. With over a thousand weekly listeners, Budamash is funny, informative and sometimes provocative as it takes an artist and musician's look at human relationships. Budamash is our most successful show on iTunes syndication.
Holistic Living with Leane Deeds, AP, DOM; Midnight Blues Show with JoJo Taylor and Richie Ianuzzi; Irish News and Music with R.J. Malloy; Christ Centered Relationships with Pastor Lloyd; The Top Ten Oldies with Joe Morea; and Janet Bretsky's Stairway to Health are some of the many programs produced by and for our North Port community thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and donors. So far, we have 18 show hosts producing weekly programming.
We've also made some exciting additions to outreach programming. This year we launched Irish World Radio (irishworldradio.com) coming from Dublin, Ireland and managed here in North Port, featuring the music and cultural voice of Ireland, and we expanded our Russian language programming with news, opinion and the launch of The Russian language “Children's Story”. This year, in our efforts to continue to build local community radio, we started UU1Radio for the Unitarian Church broadcasting on 97.3 FM.
It's all the work of dedicated volunteers who generously dedicate their time to produce shows, edit programs, manage operations and even keep the floors swept. In fact, we are all volunteers from the Station Manager on down the organizational chart. So your financial support will keep us up and broadcasting, serving communities from North Port Florida to Dublin Ireland and beyond. Please consider us in your charitable giving.
We can't do it without you!
