BENEFITING: Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation
North Lake Tahoe is famous for its beauty and tranquility.
It is also home to hundreds of families and individuals that struggle every day to stay fed, safe, in school, working and out of crisis.
Sometimes families need supportive services to meet their basic needs - but actually getting services is challenging in itself once a person or family makes the courageous step to do so. Those seeking support have to travel to several agencies, often in different towns, without reliable transportation, and tell their painful story to a new person at each new door.
For years, tenacious non-profits, social service agencies and other organizations have provided vital services to people in need despite challenges of high rents, budget cuts and many feet of snow.
An Innovative Solution
Community members, non-profits, government agencies and a community foundation have joined forces to turn a run down motel on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe into a welcome, one-stop-shop for critical services for families, the local workforce and individuals working to live stable, healthy lives.
Community House, set to open this Fall, will house Tahoe SAFE Alliance, Project Mana, North Tahoe Family Resource Center as well as other critical services, all under one roof.
Individuals and families will be able to enter one door and have access to a wide range of services delivered in an integrated way. No longer will families have to travel all over the region to get the support they need.
Not only will Community House provide crisis services but serve as a community resource center offering parenting, nutrition, legal, employment and other classes to build long-term resiliency and connections in the community.
Research and our own experience tells us that this new way of providing services results in better outcomes for everyone.
Our campaign wants to raise $15,000 to match a generous gift from the Ferrari Family. Your gifts over the next 45 days will help us get there and get our doors open this fall! Please donate today. No gift too small.
