EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
My Dearest Supporters,
You may already know about me and my crazy decision to run one marathon per year. It started out selfishly, with me wanting to run 26.2 so I could tell myself I did it, and scratch it off my bucket list. But eventually it turned into something bigger. For the past three years, I have started to run in order to raise money towards things I care about, and some of you have generously donated to charities like One World Vision and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
This year, I am excited to have my school, Community Roots Charter School, sponsor me in a team running the NYC Marathon on November 6th. What I am most excited about is not simply running with the CRCS Team, but being able to give back and raise money towards a school that is near and dear to me.
I have an enormous amount of love and commitment towards CRCS. Having worked there for five years has made me get to know all of the ways in which the school helps our students thrive. From experienced and hard working staff who know no limits for how they can best meet students' needs, to engaging after school programs and overnight trips, the kids at my school are left with a well-rounded learning environment where academic achievement and an empowered sense of self is readily attainable. A school where students leave knowing how to critically think about the world around them and never take anything at face value.
Because I care so much about this particular fundraiser, I have decided to set my goal high. By November 6th, I hope to raise $2,500.00. I always say it and it's true: one dollar goes a long way, if only each person in a string of hundreds is willing to give. Please consider supporting me, my colleagues, and my past and future students in donating whatever you can towards Community Roots. And whether you can give or no: please come cheer for me on Nov. 6th! Your kind words and hugs from the sidelines are worth more to me than anything.
With lots of love,
