BENEFITING: Saha Global
This summer I will be spending three weeks in Tamale, Ghana as part of the Community Water Solutions Fellowship Program. Community Water Solutions (CWS) is a not-for-profit social enterprise that partners with rural communities in developing countries to establish sustainable water treatment businesses. These businesses are owned and operated by the communities that they serve, and use simple, affordable local technologies to enable the treatment, distribution and storage of clean, safe drinking water. What makes the CWS idea especially powerful is its far reaching effects: CWS projects have not only provided sustainable sources of water for thousands of people, but also spurred both social and economic development in rural communities, empowered women with valuable financial and technical skills, and dramatically reduced childhood mortality. You can read more about this wonderful organization at http://www.communitywatersolutions.org/.
While the maintenance and operation of these water treatment businesses is funded by revenue from the sale of drinking water, the capital necessary to establish them is generated from CWS fundraising activities. This is where you come in. My goal is to raise 2,500 dollars before setting off for Tamale, and your contributions will mean so much to me and to the village that we will be serving. Any amount of donation is appreciated, so please help me help you make a difference!
