THE STORY:

I am a grassroots community organizer, who is the mother of 4 and grandmother of 13. I am dedicated to improving the wellness of community members. I have been dedicated to offering and sharing educational resources to the community in any way I am able. From 2001, up to this point, every program that I have offered has come out of my pocket, whether it was a natural healing seminar, free meditation sessions, free start your own business workshops, classes for people with non-violent felonies to start their own businesses, community talent competitions, free cooking classes, clothing giveaways, free basic self defense classes, or just donating my time or monies here and there, etc. I enjoy helping people who need a helping hand. And today many of us need help. I am at a point now, where I need to ask for help to continue helping in our community. There is a great need. I'm not boasting on what I have done but just laying the foundation to be found worthy to request your assistance in our efforts to continue to help in our communities. Currently we offer all of the classes listed above at no cost. However, we desire to add a small community store where we can offer some of the same healthy foods that some of the large health food stores offer, along with food co-ops, canning classes, disaster preparedness and implement our program to eliminate homelessness. Our goal is to raise $40,000.00 to start. This will help us to: 1. Purchase a large vacant building from the city land bank list. The Building is $15,000.00 2. Make the necessary repairs to the building to get the doors open. (It's been sitting a while) I'm estimating that the repairs, permits, materials, inspections, will be estimated at about $10,000.00. 3. Order products for the store will cost approximately $7,000.00 to stock the store. For me, all people should be able to eat healthier non GMO foods at an affordable cost. We will sell the products just a little above wholesale so that we can pay the center bills, make payroll and continue to offer free classes and affordable food to the community. This store will create at least 3-4 jobs to start and will have a co-op, where you can order online and have the products shipped or order and pick up in store. 4. Last but not least, I have come up with an affordable method to alleviate homelessness while beautifying the community two - four people at a time. In addition, the person will be taught a skill and required to give back to the community via this program as long as they are affiliated with the program. Upon raising adequate funds, it will be noted on our website the amounts, the first initial and last name of who gave, city and state as well as how the funds were dispensed. In addition, as progress is made we will upload pictures so that you can see how you have helped. I know you're probably thinking that this sounds like a business plan, well kind of. But its a direct community business plan without all the red tape, to benefit our community members and to create educational opportunities and jobs. What I have found from experience too many times is that some people who have the power to approve grant monies for programs such as this, really don't care about this cause so I didn't get the grants. I found it easier to come to you, our community members to ask for help in a cause that will benefit the community as a whole. While I sit and type this call for help, it takes me back to being a child when myself and a few friends desired to purchase chips, candy and other snacks from the store but none of us had adequate funds to get what we wanted, at least not separately. I may have had .75, another person $1.00, someone else $1.50 and so on. However, when we pooled our resources then we all benefited. As it is in this case. So, I thank you for reading and I hope that your heart will permit you to help with this worthy cause. Thank you,
