Compassion & Community
Organized by: Monica Leigh
Crowdfunding has always been an interesting concept to me. On the one hand it feels invasive and on the other hand it feels like community and compassion. That's why I've called this campaign just that I am reaching out to my community and asking for compassion. My dad Shelton Kingcade is currently incarcerated and as his only child I am looking at some insanely high lawyer fees both for his previous lawyer and his appeals attorney. Every one is entitled to their opinion and everyone has one regarding the case. Your donation does not change the verdict or set him free.
Your contribution helps to make this time for me a little less difficult. There is no way possible for me to do this on my own and many of you have asked me what I need -- since you can't change the verdict or make my father immediately accessible to me, I am asking that you help me in obtaining adequate representation to appeal the pieces of the court preceding that violated his constitutional rights and help in covering the expenses of his bills that I simply cannot afford to do on my own. I wouldn't wish these circumstances on anyone and I hope you find the compassion to help in anyway you can.
No amount is too small. He has been a staple in this community and has helped hundreds of kids and families and has never asked for anything. If you don't want to contribute I only ask that you don't comment negatively that you simply don't contribute. I respect your feelings and your emotions and respect that you don't force that on anyone who wants to help. If you have questions or ideas please send me a message or text.
I am trying to stay strong but feel a constant weight pulling me down. This will not change what has happened but I hope it will help to change what will be.
With my sincerest thoughts, love, and respect - I thank you all in advance.
