COMPASS TO CARE THE MIKE & SANDY ERNSDORFF CHILDHOOD CANCER FOUNDAT wrote -
Compass to Care has a group of amazing people running the 2012 Chicago Marathon to support kids who must travel for cancer treatment. Join us!
Not every hospital in America is equipped to treat children with cancer. In fact, 40% of children diagnosed with cancer do not have an oncologist within 60 miles of them. That’s where Compass to Care comes in. Compass to Care plan the travel, and cover the costs that come with it, for families during their child’s cancer treatment. By taking the travel burdens off a family, they can focus on what’s most important, their child.
Well here is it 8 days from the marathon, and I am now getting this message out. I know many of you have been supporting me through Facebook and texting when I post about my runs. I'm now asking if you would please consider supporting me by donating money to Compass to Care. Below you will find a breakdown of donations and what it will go towards. I have a few other for you too. $5= A dollar a year for a little girl who lost her fight with cancer this year. Her parents went to high school with me. $23= A dollar a year that my cousin, Pete, has been cancer free (childhood cancer survivor) $26.20= a dollar a mile that I am going to run on the 7th. $39.00= a dollar a year of my age. $295.46= a dollar a mile of running of my training (yes, I have run 295.46 miles training for this. That doesn't count my biking or swim miles!) I thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting me and donating to this wonderful foundation. These donations are tax deductible. My wave of runners starts at 8am CST on Sunday, October 7th. Please think of me and send me good wishes. I will finish to honor all of these families that are fighting a much bigger battle than 26.2 miles, and in remembrance of those children and families that have lost their battle with this awful thing called cancer.
