BENEFITING: Downs Syndrome Foundation Inc
Megan and I are competing in the Rugged Maniac this coming September. We are doing the course race for our youngest sister Melissa. 18 years ago she was the surprise of all surprises. Born 3 months prematurely, two holes in her heart and the tiniest peanut we've ever seen. Diagnosed with Downs Syndrome and a hospital stay that last over two years. Through all the surgeries, hospital stays, getting sick she has thrived through it all. Now a Junior in high school with Honors she loves to swim, cook, be with family and is the happiest all the time. Rough day?! Melissa will cheer you up with one of her great big hugs. What is Downs Syndrome you ask?! e grouped along rod-like structures called chromosomes. Typically, the nucleus of each cell contains 23 pairs of chromosomes, half of which are inherited from each parent. Down syndrome occurs when an individual has a full or partial extra copy of chromosome 21. Melissa ROCKS her extra chromosome day in and day out. Full of life, smiles and laughter. We're looking for donations as we train for the big Obstacle Course in her honor. All donations will be submitted to raising Downs Syndrome Awareness.
