BENEFITING: Minding Your Mind
COMPLIMENTS FOR A CAUSE
Giving a compliment can change someoneʼs day, even a life. There are countless stories about someone considering taking their life, but changing their minds at the last minute because of some simple words of kindness or acknowledgement.
Recently, my brother took his life. He was the biggest supporter out there, always encouraging and helping others. Tragically, he wasnʼt able to let others help him.
So in honor of my brother, Tod Winkler, the "nicest" guy I personally have ever known, I pledge to give out a compliment to a random person…someone who "needs nice”, for as many days in a row as possible. If I forget one day, the count starts over. What will be my record? 1 day, 3 months, 5 years, more? You can join in the cause and gift one compliment a day to a random person you think might “need nice”. Keep me posted on your record and stories about the smiles you have created! Itʼs an easy, fun challenge that can really have an impact!
I am collecting donations for the MINDING YOUR MIND FOUNDATION which is working to improve the lives of adolescents with mental health issues. Minding Your Mind is developing a comprehensive and peer-based national mental health awareness and prevention program geared towards reducing the stigma associated with mental health issues. A person dies of suicide about every 13.7 minutes in the United States every day. People who die of suicide are frequently experiencing undiagnosed, undertreated, or untreated depression.
Help bring awareness to mental health care and suicide prevention.
“Be nice to someone who needs nice”
One compliment, one reason to smile.
