Composers and Schools in Concert is a nonprofit organization that supports music education and the creation and performance of contemporary music. We aim to expose and engage high school students and the general public in the concepts, techniques, and skills underlying a wide array of Western and non-Western contemporary music composition and performance through a commissioning program, series of hands-on workshops, private mentoring sessions, school presentations, and public performance.
We provide an online social networking site to connect composers and schools, we offer competitive grant funding and promotional services which support music education and the creation of new music for young performers.
Composers and Schools in Concert believes that innovative ideas are nurtured in an educational setting. We value the collaboration between artist and educator and educator and student. We support experiential learning opportunities for high school music students, and we encourage the creation and discovery of contemporary music. We are comitted to keeping the arts strong, and a part of our communities.
Composers and Schools in Concert is committed to supporting music education in secondary schools by connecting professional composers with high scool music ensembles across the United States. Composers and Schools in Concert supports music education and the creation of new music by providing revenue-generating opportunities for school music programs and professional composers.
