CUSD - After School Enrichment & Safety Program
Team Member: Eric Genesoto
EVENT DATE Nov 15, 2014
THE STORY:
My OC128 Leadership Practice Team is currently involved in a team community service project supporting the Compton Unified School District After School Enrichment and Safety Program (ASES). The team is committed to volunteering our time and skills to help enhance the educational development of today’s youth.
Some background on ASES:
The ASES program was formed through conversations with district-level administrators, school principals, teachers, parents, students, community members, and local business owners. The program provides students of grades k-8th a safe place to learn, grow, and be exposed to possible career occupations at an early age.
The main goals of the program are to provide students with additional opportunities to enhance basic skills, provide a safe learning environment where students are enriched and have the opportunity to develop their individual talents, promote physical activities to increase students’ health and fitness, and allow students the opportunity to reinforce their character and improve their self-esteem, social skills, and self confidence through highly effective enrichment activities.
Where will the funds go:
As a team, we are committed to raising $1,250 each for a total of $20,000 for the ASES by Nov.15, 2014. These funds will serve to purchase musical instruments for ASES. We are also committed to volunteering or sourcing 200 hours as a group i.e. 10 hours per team member in our Community Service Project through Campus Beautification, Hosting Inspirational workshops, and facilitating donations to go towards the student’s stage productions thus supporting the combined visions of our team and ASES in supporting tomorrow’s leaders today.
