EVENT DATE: Sep 08, 2017
In lieu of gifts, we invite you to celebrate our marriage by donating to one or more of the charities that mean the most to us.
Baja Dog Rescue is a 501c(3) no-kill animal rescue run by a group of dedicated volunteers in Baja California and San Diego. They rescue and rehabilitate unwanted, abandoned, and neglected street dogs and find them loving happy homes. This cause is close to our hearts, as Sarah adopted Roxy from Baja Dog Rescue in 2013. Your donations will help to provide food, medical care, and basic supplies, and will make a huge difference in the lives of these puppies and dogs in need.
The American Refugee Committee International (ARC) is a humanitarian aid organization that works to help people take back control of their lives. ARC programs serve nearly 2.5 million people each year, providing health care, clean water, sanitation, shelter, gender-based violence prevention services, microenterprise development, disease prevention services, education, legal services, counseling and repatriation assistance. They work in DRC, Rwanda, Uganda, South Sudan, Sudan, Pakistan, Thailand, Myanmar, Somalia, Syria, and Jordan. ARC works with its constituents as partners. Of its 2,000 employees, 95 percent are hired locally.
The William Howard Warneke Memorial Foundation was created to honor Billy Warneke, who lost his life at just 25 years of age while fighting a wildfire outside of Yarnell, Arizona in 2013. Billy was a former Marine who had recently joined the Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew, one of the crews that the US Forest Service relies on to fight complex and dangerous fires in some of the most inaccessible and rough terrain in the country. On June 30th, 2013, a massive wilfire took Billy's life along with the 18 other members of his crew. The foundation pays tribute to Billy by giving aid to the very wildland firefighting community he was proud to be a part of, in addition to other first-responder, and fire-rescue groups. Many groups are either volunteer based or operate on very small budgets. In many cases, the responders must supply most, if not all, of their own gear to perform the duties of their position. Your donation will help to properly equip fire-rescue departments with the gear they need to successfully perform their duties.
