THE STORY:

Friends and Family-- This fund is for Cpl. John N Peed and the hope of erecting a sign in his honor in Owens, Virginia. On the corner of Route 301 and 218, lies North Windsor, his home and lifelong residence until 1935. Peed is most well known as a confederate trooper riding with Jeb Stuart in the 9th Virginia Cavalry. Serving as company bugler, Peed participated in every major battle from Antietam to the Overland Campaign. Upon his return, he served as a peace officer, rebuilding his community for the next 4 decades. Unfortunately due to modernization, this historic property is being renovated to its 1800's design. As an ancestor, it is my home with VDOT and Historic Resources of Virginia to get a simple sign for recognition in service to his state, and rebuilding of a community torn by war. Any amount would be great! Need you help preserve his legacy :)
