BENEFITING: Rivers of the World
Congo Sewing Project
Congolese women often find themselves as single mothers with no income. Several resort to prostitution or rely on their children to provide for their families. Rivers of the World (ROW) has been working with these women for several years providing a way to make a better life for themselves and their children. ROW partners with a sewing school in Tshikaji, Congo lasting 1 year that educates these single mothers in French (their official language), geography, business, life skills and of course sewing! At the end of the year, the ladies are awarded with a sewing machine and a new job!
What We Need
We want to raise enough funds to sponsor 10 more ladies for a year.
$5,000 will sponsor 10 mothers ($500 each)
$400 will cover processing & fees
If we do not reach our goal, we will sponsor as many women as we can with what is raised.
