THE STORY:

CT-ALIVE is a Connecticut non-profit, tax-exempt organization whose mission is to empower victims and their families to heal after experiencing the trauma of violence and abuse by providing support, advocacy and education.

Since 2007, CT-ALIVE has supported Susan Omilian's innovative and life-saving work to help women who have been abused take the journey from victim to surivor to "thriver!"  After her nineteen-year-old niece Maggie was killed in 1999 by her ex-boyfriend, Susan vowed to help other women move on after abuse as Maggie could not. Today Susan conducts free My Avenging Angel Workshops,™ based on the idea that "living well is the best revenge" for women who have experienced domestic violence.

What CT-ALIVE does:

CT-ALIVE's Never Going Back to Abuse Project, builds on the important work of the domestic violence shelters and sexual assault crisis centers. While the goal of these programs is to get the women safely out of abuse, CT-ALIVE helps women stabilize  their lives emotionally, financially and socially so that they will not return to an abusive relationship.

The Never Going Back to Abuse Project offers women who have been abused:

•  FREE motivational workshops,

 monthly follow-up groups,

•  annual weekend retreats for the women, and,

•  individual coaching sessions to help accomplish their goals.

Through this workshop program, women uncover hidden talents, awaken their creative potential and create a new, non-violent future for themselves and their children. Women who reclaim their lives in this way are less likely to return to an abusive relationship and/or suffer the long-term physical and psychological consequences of the abuse they have experienced.

Participants in these workshops have started their own businesses, returned to school to earn advanced degrees in law and medicine, obtained new jobs at higher pay or that more closely match to their skills and talents, resumed singing careers, successfully managed their money, become first-time homeowners, and established new, healthy, non-abusive long-term relationships and happy lives for themselves and their children.

You can help support CT-ALIVE with a donation
