"Patrolling the Deep with C.S.C.A.R." is the theme of the 2017-2018 state project for Connecticut Society of C.A.R. While the property, buildings and exhibits are funded by the United States Department of Defense, the Submarine Force Library and Museum Association is the 501c3 that provides staff, public relations, traveling exhibits and special programming for the museum.
Officially established in 1969, the Submarine Force Library and Museum is the only submarine museum operated by the United States Navy and spans submarine history from the Turtle (used in the American Revolution) to Ohio and Virginia class submarines. The collections include tens of thousands of artifacts, photographs and documents, as well as 6,000 volumes in the reference library.
Caileigh has visited the museum many times during her life, and is honored to have developed and presented this program to Connecticut C.A.R. members. She encourages everyone to visit the museum located at 1 Crystal Lake Road, Groton, CT, tour the USS Nautilus, and to learn more about Submarines and Submarine history in the library. If you can't visit the museum in person, make a virtual visit through the website www.USSNAUTILUS.org.
To Celebrate Caileigh's 19th birthday on October 9, she hopes that you will join her in honoring the Submarine Force Library and Museum Association in Groton, CT. with a donation of $19.00. Caileigh will present all of the funds raised for this project to the Submarine Force Library and Museum Association at the C.S.C.A.R. Annual State Conference in March, 2018.
