BENEFITING: CROSSROADS CHURCH
EVENT DATE: Jun 18, 2016
Connection Music Festival brings people together to courageously and passionately celebrate the joy and love of the Lord. In 1998, Pastor Glen Blumer and his congregation at Good News Reformed Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota were approached by church members Alan and Vicki Greene with an idea to hold an outdoor music festival on their church lawn. The Festival that began on their church lawn has become a mega event held on a 200 acre farm attracting hundreds of thousands over the Labor Day weekend. In the meantime, Pastor Glen and his family moved to Norwalk, Iowa and he became the head pastor of Crossroads Church (formerly Calvary Reformed Church). Fourteen years later Pastor Glen asked, “Why not have a Festival in Iowa?” So…we launched the outdoor Connection Music Festival in 2014 on the 20 acre campus of Crossroads Church in partnership with Fellowship Community Church in Norwalk and the Association of LifeLight Festival (ALF). June of 2014 the first Connection Music Festival was held with approximately 1,200 attendees. Our numbers increased to 3,000 at the 2015 Festival. In January 2016 Connection Music Festival joined the Association of LifeLight Festivals to provide high quality family-friendly events to people of all ages and income levels with the ultimate goal of unifying the body of Christ and bringing the lost and broken into a life changing relationship with Jesus Christ. The hope of the Connection Music Festival is to encourage one another to share God’s love, mystery, and healing through music.
