BENEFITING: MINDS MATTER
EVENT DATE: Dec 01, 2012
Hello Everyone, my name is Connie, and I'm running the 2012 North Face Endurance Challenge 50 mile ultramarathon. I'm running this race for a couple of reasons:
1. I love running.
2. (More importantly) I want to raise money for a non-profit that is very dear to me: Minds Matter.
Minds Matter is a transformative mentorship program that inspires accomplished students from low-income families by providing knowledge and skills necessary for unlocking their full potential and enhancing academic performance.
Students that apply for the program are committed from their sophomore year in high school through their senior year. In addition to academic tutoring, SAT prep, and assistance with competitive summer and college applications, students learn crucial study skills and life skills.
I am currently involved with the Los Angeles chapter of the program, and we have some very bright and promising youth that would benefit so much from any all money raised. This money would go towards program materials, travel and operational expenses, and application fees.
