Connie Standard Memorial Scholarship Fund
Organized by: Kathleen Standard
Connie Standard, my mother, spent her life in service to others. After years as one of the most competent secretaries in the world (!), mom went to classes and earned her realtor's license, something she'd always dreamed of doing. As they settled into their Colorado home, she and my father joined the Odd Fellows & Rebekahs in Fort Lupton, where they worked together with a great group of people to make their community a better one by hosting gatherings, caring for the elderly, and funding scholarships and charitable causes. Dad and I are hoping, with the help of their friends at the Lodge, to create and sustain a small yearly scholarship that can be awarded to an adult who is trying to better the life of her/his family by attending classes at the local community college. It's not going to be huge, but a few hundred dollars can make a big difference to a person struggling to make all the ends meet. We don't have specific fundraising goals, and this is separate from whatever the Lodge decides to do as a fundraiser, but whatever moneys we get together will go toward sustaining our memorial to Mom for as long as we can make it work.
