Hi, I’m Connor! My twin sister Amanda and I will be 8 in December. It’s hard to believe that 4 years ago was our very first Buddy Walk here in Jacksonville, NC. I’m really glad you are visiting my page and considering joining our team. In my dad’s job, there are crews that work together towards the common goal of a successful mission. That is why our team is called Connor’s Crew. We are all working together to raise awareness in my community about Down syndrome and to raise money to help our local families.
Thanks to support from so many awesome people like you over the past three years, we’ve been able to make these great baskets to give to babies born with Down syndrome to help their parents, families, and friends know that we’re here for them. We’ve had events so we can get together and have fun with our friends and show others in our community that even though some of us may have Down syndrome we are still not all that different. It’s been really neat to spread the word that yes even people with special needs are made in God’s image and we have a special purpose for our lives just like you. My mom has told me that part of my purpose (and Amanda’s) was to make her and daddy the happiest and proudest parents on earth. Personally, I think all kids do that for their parents and I’m pretty sure God has more plans for us. I can’t wait to find out what they are...maybe I can do some of the things my friends Donovan and Jessica have done, like go to Washington D.C. for self-advocate training, or compete in the Special Olympics World Games, or be in a movie. I even have a friend who runs his own restaurant…that would be cool too. I have big dreams just like you, and I promise I will work hard to make them happen. Once I set my mind to something, I don’t give it up easily. My mom calls me stubborn sometimes; but, she doesn’t know I see her trying to hide that smile when she’s trying to be tough on me.
So thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about me and my buddy walk so you can understand why I’m asking for your help. Your donation does so much to help people with Down syndrome, our families, and our community. Your contribution makes a difference…a BIG difference. THANK YOU!!
