BENEFITING: INTREPID FALLEN HEROES FUND
EVENT DATE: May 16, 2016
I will be hiking The Appalachian Trail to help support and bring awareness to the work of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (www.fallenheroesfund.org) helping wounded veterans returning from conflict.
I believe with all my heart and soul that is time to not only remember our veterans, but to take an active part in showing our appreciation towards these men and women that have volunteered to serve this nation during the longest time of sustained warfare that we have ever seen. The residual of this is that so many of these brave warriors are returning home with physical and psychological ailments in great number, and are having great trouble in getting the care they need and so deserve. In addition to this, many families have not been so fortunate to see their loved ones return home and though we, as a nation, can never return their loved one to them or understand the suffering they are going through, we can and must see that they are assisted in any way possible.
This is why I am raising money for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. Next Spring I will embark on a 2,180 mile hike of The Appalachian Trail to raise money as well as awareness for this worthy organization that actually spends the money you contribute to the cause of caring for veterans and their families rather than advertising and growing their brand name. I would invite everyone who supports our veterans every day with posts, memes, and reminders on facebook to take the next step and donate to this worthy cause so that you may have a direct impact on supporting these brave Americans who continue to fight battles long after the war is over.
The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund spends over 94% of donated money directly on the care of the brave men and women that serve and have served this nation so that we may all have the freedom to do what we do each day. The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund is a leader in supporting the men and women of the Armed Forces and their families. Begun in 2000 and established as an independent not-for-profit organization in 2003, the Fund has provided close to $150 million in support for the families of military personnel lost in service to our nation, and for severely wounded military personnel and veterans. These efforts are funded entirely with donations from the public, and hundreds of thousands of individuals have contributed to the Fund. Please take time to check this organization out at www.fallenheroesfund.org
The goal is to raise $10,000 to support wounded veterans as well as the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Please take the time to show your appreciation for the military, past and present by donating to this cause and follow along as I tackle this insanely long walk starting in May of 2016.
