"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." -Aesop
The 7.0 magnitude earthquake that struck Haiti in 2010, sent an already struggling nation into a tailspin; as we approach the 4th anniversary of this terrible disaster, InterVol continues to find ways to meet the ongoing needs of the Haitian people.
This truly is a community effort!
In 2012, Constellation Brands and the Rochester General Health System committed both resources and employees to accompany InterVol to Haiti for a collaborative humanitarian mission. Not only did the team deliver medical supplies, building materials, and toys for the children at the Home for Hope orphanage, they also spent four days building bunk-beds, and assessing how they could work together in the future to continue to help Haiti.
InterVol is now ready to move forward with Phase II of this collaborative effort, which will entail building a bunk-house and kitchen/dining house to provide shelter and comfort for 48 orphans at the Home of Hope Orphanage.
The bunk-houses will be pre-fabricated in Haiti, sourcing locals to assist with this portion of the job. The design has been configured into three connected bunk houses; each one sleeps 16 children.
•Infants & Young Children
The project will not only provide the children with shelter from Haiti’s harsh elements, it will also offer work opportunities to local Haitians during the pre-fabrication process.
Your donation will not only change lives, it will save lives. Mesi Ampil! (Which means "thank you very much" in Haitian Creole).
