Continuity through Curriculum - English Program Supplies
Organized by: Maggie Kirkpatrick
Creating Opportunities for Guatemalans is an NGO located in San Antonio Aguas Calientes, about half an hour outside of Antigua. It's a safe place for kids to go after school, to learn English, play board games, do homework, read or partake in the sewing activities.
While I worked for Maximo Nivel I was the field manager for this project, which is how we were introduced. They were one of the projects I become most connected with, so I am still working with them to help them develop an English curriculum for volunteers to follow when they come to teach the kids. Consistency is key to maximizing how much the kids can learn, so the curriculum will help volunteers know where the last one left off, even if there is a gap of a week or two between them.
The curriculum building itself is cost free, it just requires my time and dedication which I'm happy to give. However the supplies to make the program more efficient are costly, such as paper, binders, dictionaries, notebooks etc.
My goal of $500 is modest but would go a long way, so anything helps!
