BENEFITING: KINGS COUNTY TENNIS LEAGUE
KCTL is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that uses tennis as a vehicle to motivate and inspire more than 200 children across five public housing developments in Brooklyn, NY. In addition to teaching the fundamentals of tennis, we incorporate lessons in personal development into our sessions. Until recently, we operated only on Saturdays from May through October. This year, we reached an exciting new milestone; in mid-October 2016, we launched our very first after school tennis program at Marcy Houses four days a week. Our momentum is strong but we need your help to more for our students: Establish indoor winter programming that will begin in January 2017. The biggest expense and challenge will be finding a suitable indoor facility for our students. In addition, we will need to cover the costs of equipment, uniforms, and on-site staff. Renovate the tennis court at Sumner Houses, one of our five teaching sites, in time for spring 2017. We refurbished the tennis court at Marcy Houses in 2014 and want to replicate the amazing results. The new surface advanced student enrollment, parent involvement, and physical activity outside of class.
