Because of her job at Cookie Cart, 16-year-old youth employee Alexis says, “I am not the same person I was last November (when I started working at Cookie Cart). I've learned skills here that will help me succeed in my future. There's not one person here who can't say the same thing."
Cookie Cart gives teens the skills they need to build better futures. Our unique "earn as you learn" program empowers young people with a paycheck, prepares them for work with foundational job skills and tools, and exposes them to opportunities that broaden their views of what's possible.
Working cooperatively with neighborhood leaders and schools, Cookie Cart has developed a plan to provide teens from the Payne-Phalen neighborhood of Saint Paul’s East Side a safe, nurturing learning environment where they can engage in hands-on employment training, classroom skill development and leadership workshops. In 2016, Cookie Cart launched a pilot program in partnership with Johnson High School, providing 48 students with the classroom training portion of Cookie Cart’s youth employment program. The new site of Cookie Cart is expected to open in early 2018.
