Ragini Luthra's Fundraiser:

Bring Clean Cookstoves to Goyena, Nicaragua

THE STORY:

Help bring improved cookstoves to the community of Goyena to reduce respiratory illness and to increase productivity. More efficient stoves will cause less air pollution and allow the community to develop in a sustainable way. Most of the families in Goyena currently burn wood in either open fires or very rudimentary stoves that create a large amount of smoke. Much of the community suffers from chronic breathing problems due to the lack of ventilation and long hours spent cooking every day. The New Haven/Leon Sister City Project, an organization that has been working in Goyena for over thirty years, will bring in the stoves with the assistance of community leaders and help educate families about the use and maintenance of the stoves.
