BENEFITING: MICHIGAN COON HOUND RESCUE
This is Steve. This is the way he usually looks (eyes closed). He needs surgery to correct his eyelids. Steve is our foster dog. He was rescued from a shelter in SE Michigan, where he was turned in as a stray. Steve was a very shy, unsocialized teenager basically afraid of everything and everyone. He also has Entropian.
Entropion is a condition that involves the eyelids. With an entropion the eyelids roll inward and rub against the cornea of the eye. This can cause a great deal of discomfort for the dog. Steve gets gel eye drops 3 times a day. His favorite thing is rubbing his eyes on the warm towels out of the dryer. Unfortunately, according to Steve's eye doctor, he has the most extreme condition she has ever seen. She will need to remove almost 10 mm of skin below his eyes and also take a tuck from the upper corners. His surgery and after care have been estimated at $1200- $1400.
Steve has blossomed into a silly, wonderful personality. I think he'll be able to handle the after care for the surgery (and my boss agreed he can come to work with me afterwards.) Will you help give him the chance to watch the rest of his life?
