BENEFITING: SMILE MASS INCORPORATED
ORGANIZER: SMILE MASS INCORPORATED
EVENT DATE: May 22, 2016
I only do two things in my free time: run and raise money. I usually raise money by running.
I first ran for SMILE Mass in 2014 when I raised a few hundred dollars to be a part of their Ragnar Relay team. Our 12 person team ran 200 miles from Hull to Provincetown in order to help SMILE Mass to donate beach-accessible wheelchairs to the beaches of Cape Cod. After running many 5ks, 10ks, and half marathons, this was my absolute favorite running event. Being stuck in a van, cheering for teammates in the middle of the night, and relay racing for 24 hours was more fun than any other road race I'd ever competed in. Since then, I've run two Chicago Marathons and I swore I'd never run another one. Ever. Unless it wasn't for time. Or maybe I'd participate as a sighted guide. Or for a charity. Then Lotte called me and told me about SMILE Mass' opportunity to run the Copenhagen Marathon and I couldn't say no--it was exactly the marathon I was looking to run; a new physical challenge (pushing a high-performance stroller... for 26.2!) in a beautiful country, for a great charity. I have committed to raise $5,000 by May 15th. Please help me support this incredible organization. You can learn more by going to www.smilemass.org
UPDATE: I will be pushing a Duddy-Family friend, Victoria Conrad! Victoria has been a patient of my mother's for over 2 decades. Although she was diagnosed with Celebral Palsy, she is an accomplished adult and is currently in Grad School at the Harvard School of Education!
