BENEFITING: 25 40
We want to introduce you to Coram Deo Place of Care, a home for abandoned children in the beautiful Wild Coast in rural South Africa's Coffee Bay.
In our many years in the rural Eastern Cape of South Africa, we have learned that most orphans are cared for by extended family and that the word orphan carries with it a stigma in the tribal Xhosa communities. To call attention to orphans or to separate them out is not necessarily beneficial. This has driven our work in Canzibe to accept and support orphan care in place, meaning we do what we can to support the aunts and grandmothers caring for the children whose parents have died or left.
But then there are instances when there is no other choice. Children who have been abused or abandoned by their parents are placed at Coram Deo. Presently caring for 10 children, Coram Deo provides the safety, security, and nurturing desperately needed for these abused and abandoned children. We hope you will welcome Coram Deo -- staff and children -- into the 25:40 family with your support through prayers and donations.
We are raising money so that Coram Deo can finish the renovations to its home. We need $4800 for them to finish construction, which includes finishing the roof, floor, internal walls and plastering and painting the outside walls.
Also, it costs $1280 for Coram Deo to meet its monthly expenses, mostly to cover the salaries of the caregivers, cook and other staff. While The LunchBox Fund provides food, Coram Deo purchases meat and fresh fruit and vegetables.
