I have been at WNEP-TV since 2003, where I hold the title of Assistant Chief Photographer, and get to work along side Ryan Leckey, Morning Show Reporter on the morning segment called "Leckey Live."
Ryan's Run was started in 2010 to help raise awareness and funds for Allied Services, a non-profit Rehab facility based in Scranton, which was also named the #1 Rehab Center in America by Uniform Date System in Medical Rehabilitation in 2014. It all culminates with running the New York City Marathon every November.
In four years, the Ryan's Run campaign has raised over $900,000.
Corey Burns (or as Ryan Leckey refers to him as “The Brother He Never Had!”) is lacing up to run the ING NYC Marathon for the third time in five years as part of the "Ryan's Run" crew.
This marathon will be Corey's fifth in all. In his two previous NYC Marathons, Corey posted times of 3:43:25 and 3:51:36 on a humbling course through the Big Apple.
When Corey is not corralling Ryan for many “Leckey Live” segments in the early morning hours on WNEP-TV, where he also holds the role of Assistant Chief Photographer, and chasing his two children (Corey & Téa) with his wife (Erin) at home, you can find him training at CrossFit Scranton, and running the many hills in Factoryville in preparation for November’s race through NYC’s five boroughs.
Corey is not only excited to run as part of the “Ryan’s Run 5″ crew, but is also enthusiastic to share the inspiring stories of recovery and rehabilitation, which are at the core of this campaign. The stories from 2012’s "Ryan's Run 3" campaign turned "Ryan's Recovery" are still the most inspiring. With the cancellation of the 2012 ING NYC marathon due to the damaging effects from Superstorm Sandy, "Team Leckey" rallied, on the same Sunday the marathon was to be held, to collect much needed supplies for the east coast communities affected by the storm. Ultimately, the stories from "Ryan's Run 3 turned Ryan's Recovery" garnered a Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters award for "Outstanding Television Public Service Campaign."
