BENEFITING: Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation, Inc.
ORGANIZER: Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation, Inc.
On November 5th, in addition to many other loving and devoted supporters of this cause (including my dad and husband), I will be running with Team CdLS at the New York City Marathon. Cornelia de Lange Syndrome has affected my family in a significant way and I am so honored to be supporting an organization devoted to people with this diagnosis and their loved ones.
My brother Taylor is three years older than me. He loves collecting church directories, watching action scenes from "Walker, Texas Ranger", and counting the number of old people with canes at the Village Inn. Taylor has Cornelia de Lange Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that can cause a variety of physical, cognitive, and medical challenges. Growing up with Taylor has formed my character and my purpose, and I feel incredibly lucky to be his sister.
We have been so fortunate that Taylor has grown into a healthy and happy young man with very few medical issues. Still, a diagnosis of CdLS was a scary and isolating thing for my parents. It has meant constant care and attention in order to provide Taylor with the support he needs to be successful. The CdLS Foundation serves people like Taylor and families like ours, ensuring that no family feels alone after receiving this diagnosis.
I am so proud to run on behalf of Taylor and the CdLS Foundation. I would be incredibly grateful for your financial and emotional support. THANK YOU!
