BENEFITING: Washington Heights CORNER Project, Inc.
The Becoming Writer's Program is an 8 week memoir-writing workshop series held at Washington Heights CORNER Project that culminates in a reading event and publication. Becoming Writers has become an important program for participants, giving them a space to own their voices, be heard, and gain writing and reading skills.
Doesn't this sound like something you'd like to read? Did you love CORNER Stories: Volume 1?
We are aiming to raise $1500 by May 2nd to cover all of the costs of another cycle of workshops and the production of CORNER Stories: Volume 2!
Please support us by donating and sharing this project with your friends!
Where is your donation going?
Workshop costs for facilitator's fee, nutritional incentives, equipment, supplies and gift for facilitators: $1100
Printing costs for 100 books: $300,
Promotional costs for posters and postcards: $100
All donations are tax-deductible.
In appreciation for your support, we will provide the following:
$25 donation - A copy of CORNER Stories: Volume 2
$50 donation - A signed copy of CORNER Stories: Volume 2
$75 donation - Signed copies of both CORNER Stories Volume 1 & 2
This workshop and the publication of the anthology gives our participants a platform to share their stories in their own voices as well as an opportunity to be a published writer. Your donations will make it possible for our participants to read their pieces at a reading that will be a part of the Uptown Arts Stroll for the second time!
We will continue to empower individuals in our community and provide space for them to own their voices and be heard. Stay tuned for the open mic event where writers will share their stories aloud!
