BENEFITING: POSTPARTUM PROGRESS
Jacqueline Cohen wrote -Climb Out of the Darkness is a fundraising event created by Postpartum Progress to raise awareness of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders like postpartum depression. Postpartum Progress is a non-profit organization focused on improving awareness of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and providing peer support for the women who have them. The organization has also created peer-to-peer programs and messaging that connect women to information and treatment, and support throughout their recovery to help lessen the burden of disease. It was founded by a mom, Katherine Stone, run by moms, focused on moms, and supported by moms. Last year's event had 44 states and 5 countries participating in this amazing event that not only raised awareness and funds for Postpartum Progress, but allowed healing and connection for all of the women and families who participated that were either struggling or recovered from this common illness. As a survivor of Postpartum depression and anxiety, I ask you join me again this year to celebrate my "Climb Out of the Darkness" and help other mothers, sisters, aunts, daughters and future mothers have the education, tools and resources to recover and/ or prevent this devastating illness.
