BENEFITING: COUDERSPORT LIBRARY ASSOCIATION
The Coudersport Public Library Building Fund has been established to help raise money to construct a new library facility for the Coudersport area community to meet the needs of today’s library patrons.
Coudersport Public Library Trustees are growing closer to breaking ground for a new, modern facility with the acquisition of the locally-harvested timbers that will become the central post and beam section of the new building.
“We are fully aware that our community has been hearing about a new library for many years and our building fund account has been growing thanks to the generosity and support of the community. But in order to bring this project to completion, we need to step up the pace of fund raising, and for that we need our community,” says Michael Wetzel, who is Treasurer of the Library Trustees.
“Our most pressing need at this time is a dedicated group of folks to assist us in planning a fund raising campaign. We are fully confident that, with a well-executed fund raising campaign, our goal of putting up this building in the spring of 2015 will be realized,” says Jane Metzger, Library Board President.
Library Trustee Krista Batterson speaks for the Board when she says “Our public library is an invaluable resource. I once heard it described as the living room of the community, bringing people and ideas together. That is how I feel each time I enter the Coudersport Library. People are reading, studying, teaching, playing games, attending meetings, putting together puzzles, and researching or communicating on the computer. I also view the library as a way for all people to have access to information regardless of their ages or economic status. It is a way for a community to share resources. Access to information, whether in print or digital format is a right for all people. Our library is in need of an update. Let’s invest in our community by investing in our library.”
