BENEFITING: Regional Task Force on the Homeless Inc
EVENT DATE: Jan 29, 2016
At the Regional Task Force on the Homeless, our mission is to provide comprehensive data and analysis that empowers the entire community to identify, implement, and support efforts to prevent and alleviate homelessness.
As part of this mission, we coordinate the annual San Diego Point-in Time count aptly called WeALLCount. WeALLCount is an annual project that assesses homelessness throughout the county through a census of all unsheltered and sheltered homeless combined with an in-depth survey.
WeALLCount enables our entire community to better understand the scope, details, trends, impact, and potential solutions to homelessness. The findings empower our region to qualify for millions in critical federal funds. Those resources go directly to targeted services that address homelessness- on all levels; from meals to access to permanent housing.
WeALLCount’s volunteers hand out vouchers for food, share information on local resources, and distribute hygiene kits to provide temporary relief and comfort while supporting long-term solutions.
This year we want to be able to offer incentives in the form of food gift cards to the homeless who take our survey. This puts us over our tight budget. We are raising money in order to be able to give back to the homeless population while conducting the count and survey.
The money donated goes directly towards buying those gift cards that will be used in conjunction with the survey for the 2016 point-in-time count.
We are also looking for volunteers! We are expecting a need for over 1,500 volunteers for the count (January 29, 2016) and the following days. If you are interested in volunteering please visit rtfh.volunteerhub.com
Thanks for your support!
