Champions for Children - Team CASA
is participating in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. We have five amazing runners who are the first class of Team CASA members to participate in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
I am so honored to be one of the five selected! I’m running TWENTY-SIX POINT FREAKING TWO miles on October 12 and I’m sure you can feel my excitement!! A marathon is really hundreds of miles with training but this year I am excited to be dedicating those miles as a charity runner for an amazing cause!!! My charity of choice is Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Cook County. Here’s why…
In recent headline news:
“Mom Gets 24 Years For Selling Infant For Sex.” This mom was convicted of selling her 4 month old infant daughter for sex.
“Girl, 3, Died of Multiple Injuries Sustained by Child Abuse at her N.W. Side Home.” Her name was Ashley.
“Parents Charged After Authorities Determine Baby Girl Starved To Death.” Her name was Mya.
For over 27 years, the mission of CASA is to speak up in court for abused and neglected children and ensure that children live in safe, permanent homes. I am proud to be an advocate for these children, children like Mya, Ashley and the 4 month old baby girl mentioned above.
I am extremely eager to pick up my running shoes and start out on a journey of self-preservation and combine it with the selfless act of raising money for CASA. I have a passion for being a voice for children who can’t speak for themselves, especially like these innocent children of abuse.
How can I help, you ask?
You can help me support this mission by donating to the wonderful work that the CASA Organization is doing.
YOU CAN HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE! One child at a time because it shouldn’t hurt to be a child!
Thank you for your support!!
