Courtney's Drive to Education
Organized by: Courtney Dukes
Hi my name is Courtney D. I am a young lady who is currently attending college in port st.lucie ,Florida. I will be finishing up my Associates degree in criminal justice in September. In October I will be starting on my Associates degree in paralegal studies. I hope to become an attorney one day. The reason I want to be an attorney is because ,while I understand I can not change the whole world, I know for a fact I can change someone's life. I am not in this to be a millionaire, I am in this so that I may stick up for those who aren't able to stick up for themselves. Allot of times Innocent African American and Latino brothers and sisters are railroaded by the criminal justice system because they could not afford a counselor who cared about the innocence of the accused let alone the family left behind. That is where I come in, I am in this for all the little girls like me who were left orphaned by a war on drugs. All the little girls who need someone to say what about us. My sixth grade teacher Mrs. Makel always said nothing succeeds like success. So if you are willing to help everything thing helps. The reason I started this fundraiser account it's because since I work full time as well as go to school full time I need a car. I catch the buses to school because I live 40 minutes away. I live so far away because it's all I can afford on my paycheck. Rent / utilities and tuition take the majority and sometimes all of my paycheck. A car would mean an expansion to my world, a way for me to travel for employment, register at better schools, interview for better jobs......the world is an oyster.
