BENEFITING: The Children's Room
ORGANIZER: The Children's Room
EVENT: Boston Marathon 2014
EVENT DATE: Apr 21, 2014
As we all know, Marathon Monday did not turn out the way the way any of us could have ever dreamed it would turn out. And the vow I made to my husband Mike at mile 22 when my calves started to cramp that I'm never running the Boston marathon again is long forgotten. I have the opportunity to finish what I started not only for the Children's Room, but for all affected by last year's tragedy. And you all know that I'll never back down from a challenge. So I'm back at it again to raise money for the Children's Room. The Children’s Room creates safe, supportive communities so that no child, teen or family has to grieve alone.
I have always wanted to run the Boston Marathon ever since college when I went with my friends to watch the runners. I couldn’t believe the atmosphere. There were so many people cheering and holding signs. I got goose bumps and wished I was one of the runners. Years later, when I moved to Hopkinton, my family and I went to the starting line and once again I was overcome with the desire to run. Last year, I was selected to run for The Children’s Room. I was about a half mile away from the finish line when the bombs went off. I was so thankful that my family and friends were safe who were near the finish line. I felt robbed that I didn’t have the opportunity to cross the finish line but I am so thankful for the opportunity to run again this year.
I would appreciate any amount you could donate to assist me reach my fundraising goal of $5,000. Please click the donate button at the top of this page to make a secure online donation.
