EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW: The Boston Marathon has always been a special day for my best friend Kayla and I since we met our freshman year in college. What started as a friendly invitation to cheer on her dad, has turned into an annual tradition, even after I moved to South Carolina. Each year involves too much coffee, matching t-shirts, mad dashes around Boston, and an ever-growing friendship that feels more like family.
TRUTH: I still struggle to put into words how my experience in 2013 has affected me. I resisted the phrase “Boston Strong” for so long, as I felt anything but strong in the days, weeks, months following. It has been an evolving emotional process to come to terms with what I experienced on Boylston Street and I am continually thankful for those that have been Boston Strong for me when I simply could not, or can not, find the strength to be. There are no words and no ways to express how lucky I am, or how to return the support I have received, but I am going to try my best because….
THE GOOD NEWS: This year I have the opportunity to run the 119th Boston Marathon for Cradles to Crayons, AND to have Kayla as my marathon team coach! I am proud to be Boston Strong-er and I am so excited that our tradition continues! On a day that means so much to Kayla and I, I feel honored to have the opportunity to run in such a meaningful way. With each step, I’ll be raising money to help some of Boston’s strongest kiddos – all of my fundraising efforts will help provide children living in low-income and homeless situations, with the essential items they need at home, at school and at play. C2C provides these items for FREE by engaging and connecting communities that have, with communities that need.
I ASK that you considering making a gift or donation towards my efforts to support C2C. 100% of the money raised by the C2C team will directly support the vision, that one day every child will have the essential items they need to feel safe, warm, valued, and ready to learn!
