EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
I am very excited to announce that this winter I will be training for the 121st running of the Boston Marathon. I have decided to run this historic race as part of the Cradles to Crayons team and raise crucial funds for the children ages 0-12 living in need of basic essential items. After years of cheering this team on from the sidelines, it is an honor to be chosen to run with them.
Did you know that over 300,000 children are living in homeless or low-income situations in the state of Massachusetts? The money I raise will go towards Cradles to Crayons’ vision that one day, every child in need will have the essentials to feel safe, warm, ready to learn, and valued. This looks like a backpack filled with brand new school supplies to make sure the year starts on a positive note; it feels like a warm winter coat that protects against the harsh New England winter; it sounds like a pair of sneakers that keeps a child on the playground, socializing with friends.
Participating on this team is not only motivating and fun, but it gives me a wonderful feeling to dedicate my training to such a great cause. Giving back in such a tangible and impactful way will only make my 26.2 mile run on April 17th an even more special accomplishment.
I need your help to get me to the finish line of the Boston Marathon. I have set a goal to raise $10,000 by race day. Through the generosity of my friends and family, I know I will succeed. I will match dollar for dollar what you dontate. So please make it hurt for you and I for this great cause! Please make a contribution on my online fundraising page by visiting: https://www.crowdrise.com/CradlestoCrayonsBoston2017and selecting my campaign under “The Team” heading, or by sending a check made out to Cradles to Crayons. Don’t forget to ask your employer if they have a matching gift program, another way to help me reach my goals!
Be on the lookout for updates and stories throughout my training and thank you in advance for your support.
