Greetings! I, along with a fellow co-worker (Pat Tynan), will be attempting to run and hike 50 miles in the Mohonk Preserve on May 3rd. We're raising money for the Preserve itself, lands which The Nature Conservancy has described as “one of Earth's last great places.” I haven't even seen it yet, and I like it already. So, if you like trees, rocks and trails, please consider donating to the cause. And if you really like those things, up close and for hours on end, join our team. Fair warning: We don't expect to be fast or stylish, but we're going to do our best to finish.
Thanks very much.
Here are some details on the event:
Now in its 2nd year, Rock The Ridge is a 50-mile endurance challenge set in the natural beauty of the Mohonk Preserve, a vast, non-profit nature preserve situated in the mid-Hudson Valley of New York State. The goal is to traverse a 50-mile course within 24 hours or less by walking, running, or any combination thereof.
The course winds along beautiful carriage trails, through the forests and across the magnificent ridgelines of the Preserve. Whether you walk, run, or do a combination of both, Rock the Ridge will be a spectacular outdoor adventure and an accomplishment that you’ll be proud of for a long time!
Rock the Ridge is also a fundraising event, supporting a great cause: preserving our natural environment. Funds raised will go to the Mohonk Preserve in support of its mission to safeguard the land of the Shawangunk Ridge and encourage people to experience nature.
