Way to go Sandra

We are excited to announce the research project we will be supporting this year in partnership with Cleveland Clinic and Dr. Abazeed. We met Dr. Abazeed about 9 months ago and were truly inspired by his passion and commitment to helping cancer patients. Now that we have identified the researcher to support, we need your help!
From the Researcher: Dr. Mohamed Abazeed
The focus of my CCA research is answering these questions. My team and I believe there is an urgent need to understand and resolve why discrepancies in outcomes for these patients exist. We have developed a predictive, real-time model called a patient-derived xenograft, or human tumor avatar. With seed funding from Craine’s Cholangiocarcinoma Crew, we have started one of the first human tumor avatar programs in CCA to date. We plan to test a variety of known and novel therapies in order to prescribe individualized treatment plans for our first patient, and each subsequent patient to come. The ultimate goal of this translational research is to be able to prescribe treatments uniquely tailored to each patient and their particular genetic tumor profile.
This type of bench-to-bedside research has the potential to directly impact individual patient’s outcomes. We are requesting continued philanthropic support to sustain and grow the research, identify patterns, and potentially develop a new innovative standard-of-care for CCA patients.
