Craniosynostosis + Carver Jude
Organized by: Amanda Cunningham
For this child, I have prayed, and the Lord has granted me the desires of my heart. 1 Samuel 1:27. Carver Jude Day is the epitome of this prayer; a blessing from God to two parents who love God, their children, their family, their church family, and their friends as fervently and as fiercely as possible. Travis and Mindy Day are the proud, loving parents to Baby Carver Jude who was born in December of last year with a condition known as craniosynotosis. In short, this means that his skull fused a little too quickly, and that he would need to undergo surgery, and then wear a special helmet for a period of time, to help shape his head, and protect his growing little brain. Carver Jude had his surgery in Janurary 2016, and is now wearing the first of at least two special helmets that he needs. The awful part of this is, not the helmet, not the surgery, not even that it had to happen to little Carver Jude, but instead, that insurance does not cover this absolutely necessary item. This little tiny piece of plastic, which is responsible for such a big job, costs $2500.00 each. Insurance covers nothing, not one penny. Travis and Mindy are just like you and I... they want what is best for their son, but lack the financial resources to obtain it on their own. This is where we come in, friends! It has been said that it takes a village to raise a child, and this situation is no different. Travis and Mindy are our friends, our neighbors, our church leaders, and are in need... to give their baby boy every opportunity possible to overcome this bump in his journey. The added expenses of multiple trips to Birmingham, copays, gas, and travel expenses, all add up quickly. With this in mind, this is where I humbly ask for you to first and foremost, pray for Carver Jude, Travis and Mindy. Then, please pray and ask what you can comfortably give to help this family who are so much a part of our community. Your gift will be repaid, a thousand times over, in precious baby giggles, smiles, first words, and the list just goes on and on... please find it in your heart to pray for and give from your heart to help this precious family! God Bless all of you!
