BENEFITING: CAROLE ROBERTSON CENTER FOR LEARNING
What would summer as a kid be without the chance to walk barefoot through the grass, unworried about the dirt and grime of city streets, and unconcerned about bus schedules and homework deadlines? Summer is finally here, and it is the Carole Robertson Center for Learning’s hope to continue its 38 year tradition of sending 40 school age children to summer camp to House in the Woods in Delevan, Wisconsin for seven days next month and we need your help to make this a reality!
For most of the children in our summer program this will be their first opportunity to explore the natural world and travel beyond the boundaries of their neighborhood. A week of camp provides engaging and safe activities, and mitigates the stress felt by children who are aware of the tensions in their neighborhoods or homes. Summer camp is a time to rest and recharge, to try new things and create lifelong memories.
Each family contributes $50 towards the cost of the camp, but the full cost of camp is $250 per child. On this gorgeous summer day, look around you and consider the first time you went to summer camp. What kinds of new experiences and friendships did it bring into your life? With your help, this experience can be made real for 40 children in the North Lawndale, Little Village, and Near West Side neighborhoods.
~~Donations of all sizes are appreciated – that means $5, $10, $15, $20 – any size can help us reach our goal of $7,500. Help make summer camp a reality for our youth.
Thank you for your consideration.
