BENEFITING: SAN LUIS VALLEY DEVELOPMENT RESOURCES GROUP
This summer a massive group of wildfires, the West Fork Fire Complex, started on June 5 and by the end of July it had burned over 100,000 acres of national forest. The fire burned in the backyards of many in the community and they need our help. Mineral county was declared a disaster area by the state of Colorado and the Federal Government, but there is no insurance, Federal of State financial aid available. Creede's economy is heavily dependent on tourism during the summer months and due to the fires many businesses have incurred economic losses between 50-85%. These are our friends and neighbors and our community is pulling together and asking for your help.
The Creede Community Relief Fund has been put in place to bring short and long term economic stability to the area. This money will help sustain many businesses through the winter months and ensure that they have the means to reopen and hire during the summer of 2014. This money will guarantee that these businesses can remain part of the Creede community. It will also create a long lasting community fund for future economic development.
