Welcome to Crisis Nursery’s Miles for Smiles Team fundraising page! Crisis Nursery creates an "Island of Safety" dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect by providing 24-hour emergency care for children and support to strengthen families in crisis.
“Crisis Nursery gives us a chance to be proactive and to try to prevent child abuse before it happens…That's why we're very passionate about it. If you prevent one kid from being abused, the running is worth it.” –Adam Dill, former Board Member, on running the 2012 Illinois Marathon to raise money for Crisis Nursery
Since 2013, Crisis Nursery’s Miles for Smiles Team has raised over $20,000 at the Illinois Marathon for the Nursery’s programs serving children and families in Champaign County. Crisis Nursery is the only emergency-based child care facility open 24 hours, 365 days a year for the entire community to access with no fees or income eligibility. Besides safe shelter for children, ages birth through six, we also provide family support and parenting education to strengthen parent skills and confidence. We believe that asking for help is a sign of strength.
When at full capacity, it costs $1,800 a day to keep Crisis Nursery open. Our goal for the Illinois Marathon Miles for Smiles Team is to raise $15,000.
With your help, Crisis Nursery ensures safety for children and provides support to families in crisis 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Please Donate Now or Become a Fundraiser and help us prevent child abuse and neglect in Champaign County!
